Last Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev. Helen Cook. On door duty were: Ray Buchanan and Fiona Miller. Bible readings were by Charlene Condeco and Ray Buchanan. This Sunday, we will celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving at the usual time of 11.15 a.m. All donations of tinned and non-perishable food will be donated to the Falkirk Food bank. Slamannan Community Education Association will be holding its AGM on Wednesday, October 1 at 6.30 p.m. in the community centre. New members are welcome to attend and all groups must have a representative.
Permits to fish on the River Avon for season 2014 are now on sale. They are available from Linda’s Store (Slamannan); Rod and Creel (Carronshore); Go Fishing (Grahams Road, Falkirk) and also in Maryanne’s Alterations (Bo’ness), Linlithgow Post Office, Curries Printers in Broxburn and Livingston Angling (Houston Industrial Estate). The first meeting of the 2014-15 season was held in Slamannan Community Centre on Wednesday, September 3. This was an open meeting and president Mrs Jane Miller welcome all who attended. We were entertained by expert flower arranger, Mrs Catherine Carter, who demonstrated four beautiful display arrangements, giving us a rundown on her experiences in the floral industry. Everyone enjoyed the evening. The October meeting will be on Wednesday (October 1) in Slamannan Community Centre, commencing at 7 p.m. The demonstration will be ‘Reflexology’ with Ms Jeanette Day.
