Parish Church

Last Sunday’s service was conducted by Philip Harkings, chaplain for F.V.R.H. Philip was also our organist due to Elizabeth still being unwell. We wish her a speedy recovery. On door duty were Linda McGarry and Ray Buchanan. A warm welcome is extended to all to attend this Sunday’s service which will be conducted by the Rev. Murdo Campbell who will introduce Mrs Monica MacDonald OLM to the congregation. A fellowship tea will be served after worship allowing time for a chat with Monica. Monica will be ordained into St Helen’s Church, Bonnybridge tonight (Thursday), service commencing 7 p.m. The Friendship group will meet in the church on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for the next social event in Slamannan Bowling Club on Friday, October 31. Angling Club

Permits to fish on the River Avon for season 2014 are now on sale. They are available from Linda’s Store (Slamannan); Rod and Creel (Carronshore); Go Fishing (Grahams Road, Falkirk) and also in Maryanne’s Alterations (Bo’ness), Linlithgow Post Office, Curries Printers in Broxburn and Livingston Angling (Houston Industrial Estate). Over-50s Session

Slamannan Community Centre is hosting an over-50s taster session today (Thursday) from 10 a.m.-noon. There will be keep fit, jewellery making, tea and scones, Citizen Advice, Credit Union and a fruit barra.
