Christmas Fayre

The annual fayre will be held in the Community Centre on Saturday, December 6, at 1 p.m . There will be all the usual stalls and teas. Admission is adults 50p, children 20p.

Parish Church

Last Sunday’s service was conducted by the Rev. Monica MacDonald. On door duty were Linda McGarry and Ray Buchanan. The social evening held last Friday in the Bowling Club realised the sum of £704, and a big thank you to everyone who helped in anyway to make this possible. The Sunday service will start at the new time of 11 a.m. from Sunday, December 7, when we will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. There will be a special collection of non-perishable goods for the Falkirk Foodbank on this day. Please give generously. There will be a Bereavement Service on Tuesday, December 9, at 7 p.m. This service will last for about 30 minutes, if you have lost a loved one recently or in time past, please come along, you will be made very welcome. Tea will be served after both services. The Congregational Board and Session, please note the change of date. The meeting will now take place on Tuesday, December 16. Focus Group

Slamannan community centre is looking for between four to eight people aged over 50 for some focus groups for Health Scotland. The focus group exercises are quite light, conversational and regarding healthy ageing and what makes a difference to wellbeing, health and mood as people age in Scotland. Please call 851548 if you are interested in taking part.

Angling Club

Permits to fish on the River Avon for season 2014 are now on sale. They are available from Linda’s Store (Slamannan); Rod and Creel (Carronshore); Go Fishing (Grahams Road, Falkirk) and also in Maryanne’s Alterations (Bo’ness), Linlithgow Post Office, Curries Printers in Broxburn and Livingston Angling (Houston Industrial Estate). Masonic News

Lodge St John Slamannan No 484 on Wednesday, November 19: RW Master Graham McComb gave a warm welcome to a large number of members and visitor who witnessed three E.A. being passed to the second degree. At the close of the ceremony RWM McComb and the Depute PG Master Alistair T Marshall presented Brother Andrew Sinclair with his Jubilee Certificate. He was congratulated and thanked for his sterling service and the contribution he has given to 484 over the years. Andrew made a suitable reply of grateful thanks. The assembled Brethren responded with a rousing applause.
