A road sign at one of the district’s busiest roundabouts is spelt wrong.

An eagle-eyed Falkirk Herald reader spotted the spelling error while out walking last night.

The sign at the Bowhouse roundabout near Maddiston on the A801 – which faces into the village to direct people travelling south from it – has the word ‘Roundabuot’ with the second O and U in the wrong places.

It’s thought the sign has been in place for a number of years but no one has ever noticed before.

Diane Appleby, who spotted the slight error and posted it on the Herald’s Facebook page, wrote: “Just been out for a walk to the top garage, how long has this sign been up with ROUNDABOUT, spelt wrong lol”.

Other people who commented on the post also said they hadn’t noticed it either.

The A801 road is one of the busiest in the central belt and is a link between the M9 and M8 motorways.
