Parish Church

Last Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev. Louise McClements. Louise was given a warm welcome back after her absence due to a family bereavement. Amanda MacQuarrie read the lessons. Sunday School resumes on Sunday. Children meet in the hall at 9.45 a.m. All are welcome. Banner/craft group meets in the church hall on Fridays from 2-4 p.m. All are welcome. On Friday, November 7, there will be a cabaret evening in The Three Kings. Tickets are priced £15 and include a two course meal, all proceeds to Blackbraes and Shieldhill Church and local charities. Community Council

Shieldhill & California Community Council’s next meeting will be held in the Community wing, next to Shieldhill Primary School on Thursday, October 30 at 7.30 p.m. All are welcome. If you have any issues you wish to raise or highlight please attend.

Gospel Hall

Timeout-14, the Friday programme for boys and girls, is on holiday. The Christian gospel will be preached on Sunday at 3.30 p.m. (note time), when the speaker will be Mr William Banks from Hamilton. All are invited to come and hear this important message.The Mums and Tots continues on Wednesday morning at 9.30 a.m., with play facilities free and tea and coffee available. School 50th

At the end of October Shieldhill Primary School will be celebrating 50 years on its present site. As part of a series of activities we are looking for former pupils to help create a ‘where are they now?’ display. If you were once a member of Shieldhill Primary, please get in touch. We would love to hear about where you are living now, family you may have, career path, personal achievements and any special memories you may have of your time in Shieldhill. We would also be grateful for any photographs or memorabilia you may be able to offer on loan.
