Parish Church

Last Sunday’s baptismal service was conducted by Rev. Louise McClements. Aaron, baby son of Arlene and Scott McIssac and brother of Riley was welcomed into the church family. The service this Sunday will be at the usual time of 10 a.m., children and apprentices meetings at 9.45 a.m. The Communion service is on Sunday, June 7. The Banner Group meets on Friday from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. All are welcome. The Board and Kirk session meet with Sandra Holt on Wednesday in Shieldhill Church Hall at 7.30 p.m. A folk night with Chapter 4 is on Friday, June 5 in Shieldhill Church Hall. Tickets which include supper are £8, information on 716472 and 713740. Sunday services are recorded and a CD is available for those who are housebound or unable to attend church. General Meeting

Shieldhill Community Education Wing is holding a General Meeting at Shieldhill Community Education Wing on Tuesday, June 16 at 7.30 p.m. Come along and join in. New members welcome. The Senior Youth Club P7–S1 is on Monday, 7–8 p.m.; S2+, 7.45–9 p.m.; the Junior Youth Clubs are on Wednesday, P1–P3, 6.30–7.30 p.m. and P4–P6, 7.45–8.45 p.m. On Fridays, come along and meet up with the over-50s Ladies Friday Club from 11 a.m.–1 p.m.

Christian Aid

The total raised in the recent door-to-door collection was £1375.56. Thanks are due to all who donated to this worthy cause and to the volunteers who helped collect, count and bank the money.

Community Council

Shieldhill & California Community Council’s next meeting will be held in the Community wing, next to Shieldhill Primary School tonight (Thursday) at 7.30 p.m. Agenda items for the meeting will include updates to the treasurer’s report, police matters (provided by local officers), schools, community education, Shieldhill & California village matters, church, planning, environmental and correspondence received. There will also be a guest speaker talking about ‘Basic Life Support’ covering emergency first aid and the importance of having defibrillators accessible at all times. Everyone is welcome. If you have any issues you wish to raise or highlight please attend.

Gospel Hall

Timeout-15, the weekly programme takes place on Friday, being the last Friday of the month, at 6.30 p.m. with choruses, quizzes, a Bible story, and Juice and biscuits. All children welcome, with adults as well. The Christian gospel will be preached on Sunday at 6.30 p.m. (note time), when the speaker will be Graeme Bell from Greengars. All are invited to come and hear this important message. The Mums and Tots continues on Wednesday morning at 9.30 a.m., with tea and coffee on supply and free play facilities for the children.
