Community Council

Shieldhill & California Community Council’s next meeting will be held in the Community wing, next to Shieldhill Primary School tonight (Thursday) at 7.30 p.m. All are welcome - if you have any issues you wish to raise or highlight please attend.

Parish Church

Last Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev. Louise McClements assisted by Mrs Amanda MacQuarrie, with the Sunday School taking part in celebrating the Easter message. Also during the service baby Lily Louise, daughter of Karen and Martin Bell, was baptised and welcomed into the church family. A celebration of the church’s 150-year history will take place this weekend. This will begin with the Guild Concert tomorrow (Friday) in the church at 7.30 p.m. with entertainment by the musical duo Vangel. Admission is £6 which includes supper. This Saturday the church will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. when there will be displays, slideshows and entertainment. Refreshments will also be served. A warm welcome is extended to all. On Sunday there will be a Songs of Praise Service at the usual worship time of 10 a.m. Sunday morning services are recorded and a CD is available for anyone who is housebound or unable to attend church. Gospel Hall

Timeout-14, the monthly Friday programme for boys and girls, will be held on Friday with choruses, quizzes, a Bible story, and juice and biscuits. All boys and girls, with adults if necessary, are invited. The Christian gospel will be preached on Sunday at 6.30 p.m. (note time). All are invited to come and hear this important message. The Mums and Tots will resume on Wednesday mornings at 9.30 a.m., with play facilities free and tea and coffee available. Everyone is free to come and go as they please.
