A seven-year-old girl suffered serious leg injuries following a collision with a car over the weekend.

The incident happened in Grangemouth’s Chisholm Place at around 8.30pm on Saturday and is being treated as a hit and run by Police Scotland.

The girl was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for treatment on her injuries and was still receiving care there yesterday, according to police.

Officers have now issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision and are keen to speak to the driver of a small white car.

PC Stephen Softley of the Road Policing Unit said: “We’re currently working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and are eager to speak to the driver of a small white car who may be able to assist with our enquiries.

“We’d also ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information which may be able to assist with our investigation to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555 111.
