Eager fans have snapped up tickets for rock superstar Rod Stewart‘s concert at The Falkirk Stadium next June.
When the box office opened on Friday it took just 36 seconds to sell 2000 briefs for the show and by the end of the weekend there were less than 3000 available. The organisers expect the remainder to go quickly.
Last week, the legendary rocker announced a five-date outdoor UK tour – and Falkirk is his only Scottish date in 2014 on Saturday, June 21.
Gillian Donaldson of concert promoter LCC Live said the tickets sales had been “fantastic” and had exceeded early expectations.
She said: “It is testament to Rod Stewart and his reputation as a great performer and entertainer.
“Some ticket prices and areas have already sold out but we are working hard to makes as many tickets available to fans as possible.
“We’re thrilled with the response from Scottish fans and are working on delivering a great show for them all.”
This is the third time a music event has been held at Falkirk Stadium.
Andy Thomson, director of organisers Falkirk FC (Events), was involved in brokering the deal to bring Rod, who is almost as well known as a football fan as a singer, to the stadium.
He said: We’re delighted that tickets are selling so well and that there’s demand from the local community, from fans across Scotland and the world, to welcome Rod Stewart, one of the biggest artists in the world, to Falkirk.”
