Community Council

The next meeting of Reddingmuirhead and Wallacestone Community Council will be on tonight (Thursday) at 7 30 p.m. in Reddingmuirhead Community Centre, Shieldhill Road. The guest will be Lee Kelso from Falkirk Community Trust who is an Active Forth Co-ordinator. All welcome.

Pipe Band

Wallacestone and District Pipe Band: The band started the new season well with solid performances at the first contest of the season at Gourock and Dunbar. Playing in the combined 3A and 3B competition the band gained third place at Gourock and fifth at Dunbar, finishing ahead of a few of the 3A bands. This was then followed up with the first major championship of the season, The British Championship which was held at Bathgate on May 31. With the band making the prize list, finishing in sixth place, with PM Neil Henderson extremely proud of his photo receiving the trophy from West Lothian singing sensation and Chieftain for the day Susan Boyle. The band enjoyed a very successful day at Ardrossan Highland Games on June 8, winning the grade 3 contest and taking second place in grade 2. The drummers also won the drumming prize in both grades to round off an excellent afternoon. It’s now back to hard work at the practices working on the March Strathspey and Reel in preparation for the trip to Belfast for the UK Championships on June 14. The band, which has recently just been granted charity status, is always looking to expand our numbers and if you are looking to join the band or looking for more information about us you can get this on our website www.wallacestonepipeband.com or you can find us on Facebook.

Methodist Church

Last Sunday’s Church Anniversary service was engaging, informative and with great hymns to lift our spirits. This coming Sunday, Rev. Dr Mark Jason from Stirling leads worship. The designated Church door/offertory stewards waiting to greet you at Wallacestone Methodist Church are Ann and Donny Caldwell. Not had an opportunity to have a blether with your friends recently? Coffee/tea at the end of worship will alleviate this gap.
