Bowhouse Primary School pupil Tegan Berry is counting down the hours to Grangemouth Children’s Day on Saturday.

The much-loved annual event will see Tegan (10) joined by classmates in her royal retinue for a special day they will never forget.

Primary six pupil Tegan said: “We also get to go out together for our dinner, so I’m looking forward to doing that with my friends.”

She will be crowned by Betty Aitken, herself a Children’s Day Queen in 1957, in Zetland Park just before 3pm after the procession, which also includes Beancross, Moray and Sacred Heart Primary Schools, winds its way down Kingseat Avenue from around 1.30pm.

Music will be provided by Bo’ness and Carriden Brass Band and Alloa Bowmar, Denny and Dunipace, Camelon and Tulliallan pipe bands.

Children’s Day is actually a week-long celebration, with a sports day at Grangemouth Stadium from 6pm on Monday, June 13, the football competition from 10am at Little Kerse on Wednesday, June 15, and, of course, the traditional tour of the arches on the evening before the big day.
