A man who died in a motorway smash on Tuesday has been named.

John Paul Pratt (39), a trucker from Bishopbriggs, had to be cut free from his cab following the a collision on the M80 near Haggs.

He was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert where he later died.

Two other men were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The collision occurred around 9.30 a.m. on the northbound carriageway between junction seven Haggs and junction eight Bankhead. It involved an HGV and a motorway traffic management vehicle.

Police closed off the northbound carriageway for over six hours as their investigations were carried out.
