Passenger killed in Bonnybridge road collision

A collision involving two cars on the A803 near Bonnybridge Power Station has left one passenger dead and two others seriously injured.

The incident took place around 1.35 p.m. yesterday.

Falkirk resident Mark McMillan (20) died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Mr McMillan was a passenger in a Renault Clio travelling towards Camelon when it was involved in a collision near Bonnybridge Power Station with a Nissan Pixo travelling in the opposite direction.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Clio was taken to the Southern General Hospital while an 18-year-old man, who was also a passenger in the car, was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital. Both sustained serious injury.

A 48-year-old woman driving the Nissan was also taken to Forth Valley Royal, but was later discharged.

Police closed the A803 for around four hours.

The driver of a small dark-coloured hatchback, which was known to be on the road at the time, has now been traced and enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this collision are ongoing.

Sergeant Roddy MacMillan said: “We are still trying to establish the events that resulted in both vehicles colliding and ultimately led to the death of this young man.

“Anyone who believes they have information that can assist with our ongoing investigation is asked to contact police immediately.”
