Long standing parking problems at Polmont railway station are still driving residents to despair despite measures to deal with them.
Last year Falkirk Council agreed to put down double yellow lines to prevent commuters parking their vehicles irresponsibly on Station Road.
However, according to Maddiston resident Lionel McMillan, the cars are now parking elsewhere, causing problems in other areas of the village.
This is despite Police stating they are continually monitoring the area and taking enforcement action where necessary.
Mr McMillan contacted his MSP earlier in the year and this led to his concerns being passed to Transport Scotland’s rail directorate.
The response from Transport Scotland stated: “ScotRail is committed to increasing parking provision at stations by at least 600 spaces by March 2020.
“In addition, subject to third party funding, it has to deliver a further 400 spaces across the network and is currently engaging with stakeholders, such as local authorities, to determine stations that will benefit from this additional car parking provision.
“It will also work with local authorities, Network Rail and regional transport partnerships to co-ordinate the planning of car parking at or close to stations.
“ScotRail also plan to focus on delivering stronger integration opportunities encouraging modal shift away from cars and towards public transport, cycling and walking.”
