Stirling Rambling Club has its inaugural walk on Sunday from Bannockburn Heritage to North Third. The walk starts at 9.30 a.m. at Klondyke Garden Centre, Bannockburn. The club will follow good tracks to Bearside, through woods round Gillies Hill and follow paths and tracks to Polmaise Rd. The C walkers will follow the road downhill to pick up lane passing Swans Water and return to Bannockburn Centre to view and for refreshments. The B walkers will continue to follow the Bannock Burn to the reservoir and return through forest roadway with splendid views on our return. The leader is Denis Taylor on 0772885676. A harvest Bloom ‘n’ Craft event takes place on Saturday, September 27 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Anne Ross, Scottish felt co-ordinator/tutor will host a workshop using ancient techniques to enable you to make a cobweb scarf whatever your ability. Another workshop will create stained glass items beneath the 13th century Abbey’s wonderful east memorial window. Adding to these crafting creations, the community craft group is offering workshops in making your own jewellery or creating original Christmas/greetings cards. The day is focussed on sharing - be it gifts, talents, food or friendship - so why not come along and give it a go or just visit and get the rare chance to climb the 145 steps up to the Abbey Tower and enjoy the amazing views. The support group’s next meeting is on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Park Centre, Falkirk. The speaker is nurse June Brown who specialises in helping those who have continence problems. Members, non-members and carers will all be welcome.
