There’s never a dull moment for Battalion

The weekend of January 27 was a busy one for 2nd Larbert (Old Church).
Friday night saw the Company Section celebrate the Bard with themed activities followed by a light supper of haggis rolls, oatcakes and cheese; all washed down with your ‘other’ national soft drink.

The Junior Section was out on a visit to a supermarket to learn how food arrives on our tables. This proved a great experience and in typical BB style it involved the boy’s favourite pastime ... sampling the produce.

On Saturday the Old Church was the venue for the Battalion annual Anchor Boy fun day where 104 Anchor Boys from over the whole district, along with a good number of officers and helpers, had an action-packed afternoon of games, entertainment, crafts and a bouncy castle.

Also on that day, 8th Falkirk (Bainsford Church) hosted a round of the Company Section junior five-a-side football. This proved to be a tense affair going right to the wire in the last game when 2nd Larbert boys edged ahead to win the group.

This meant that not only did they progress to the next round but unbeknown to them, the Scottish area final to be played at Grangemouth Sports Complex on Saturday, March 4. Yes a busy weekend indeed.

The Battalion is still well represented in the Nationals with 2nd Larbert in the football, 1st Polmont (Brightons Church) and 1st Denny & Dunipace (Westpark Church) in the Masterteam quiz and 1st Grangemouth (Abbotsgrange Church) in the table tennis.

The Easter sports camp returns to Carronvale House, Larbert, from April 10-12. Open to all Company Section members, it will include taster sessions for a number of sports as well as competitions.
It’s a great way for members to enjoy a residential experience. The event is staffed so there is no need for leaders to attend. Details from BB HQ at Carronvale.
