The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Well it’s new year resolution time again.

I wonder how seriously if at all you take the tradition. Actually deciding not to do things can be remarkably easy.

If you want a few things to resolve not to do in 2016 here is my easy list: Lion taming, scuba diving, hang gliding and hunting with hounds.

These are far easier to achieve than not taking sugar in your tea, giving up chocolate, or actually making use of your gym membership.

We are at the time of new start, new leaf, new calendar, new diary, new year, new hope. We want to slough off old habits, old hang-ups, old regrets ...

Unfortunately, the bells may be a great time, but they are not a magical time.

We may well wake up on the first with exactly the same problems that we woke up with on the 31st, except they are possibly compounded by a hangover.

Here’s another thing that will be true tomorrow, God loves you.

Whether your day has been or will be a success or failure, a habit indulged or a temptation defeated, God loves you.

Unconditionally. Yesterday, today, tomorrow, last year, this year, next. Have a blessed New Year.
