“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

You read that text and it bring us all up short.

What chance have we got of getting a moment to be still when there is so much to prepare for Christmas?

In one way or another we can all get caught up in the Christmas rush, so much so that we forget what Christmas is really all about. God loved us so much that he decided he would come in person to show his love in the life of his Son Jesus, the baby born in Bethlehem, and to follow that love through in his ministry, death and

resurrection.

Take some time to sit in your chair with your Christmas lights on the tree and remember…underneath the tinsel, the presents, the turkey dinner, and all the modern trappings of Christmas, remember who is at the heart of Christmas and let him into your heart.

In the quietness I like to ponder the words of one anonymous writer who said: “Christmas began in the heart of God. It is complete only when it reaches the heart of man.”

What a different world we would live in if the love of God reached every heart, including ours!

So take time to be still, and know God in that stillness, and Christmas will come to meet you. May love, peace, joy and hope, be with you all.
