‘But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.’ (Acts 2:24 NIV)
BUT! A little 3 letter word that changes the whole dynamic of a sentence.
What happened previously need no longer apply because ‘but’ indicates something is about to change.
As we head into Easter this weekend, we remember what Christians believe is the most significant moment in human history. When what had separated man from God need no longer apply.
Easter is not about defeat, although it may have looked like that as Jesus breathed his last, ‘BUT’ God raised Him from the dead, defeating sin and defeating death.
You may have a past you aren’t proud of BUT the message of Easter can change your future.
You may feel unloved BUT Easter tells us of God’s love for the world, and that includes you.
You may feel you have no hope BUT the message of the cross is the hope of all humanity and the promise of a better day. Easter is a giant ‘BUT’ in the story of all humanity BUT the choice is yours to accept or reject the gift of Jesus this Easter.
