“His face shone like the sun,and his clothes became as white as the light This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” (Matthew 17vv2,5)

In the near future I hope to go to a young people’s presentation of the musical,” Jesus Christ Superstar “. That’s an evocative title that would draw a range of responses from people! I’m looking forward to seeing what these amateur actors make of it!

What is a superstar, anyway? Our present age seems pre-occupied with the prospect of public success, stardom and adulation.

There are superstars (outstanding performers) in many walks of life and countless other “wannabees”.

Recently, especially, we have been aware of superstar disappointments from the worlds of entertainment, sport, politics and religion.

People who millions looked up to, even in awe, have come crashing down and we are left with a mix of shock and disbelief.

Is there anyone who has the qualities to make then the trustworthy, lasting, universally-appealing superstar?

Yes! Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the sinless Saviour, the One who has promised to return - He will never let us down.

A face shining like the sun, clothes as white as light ~ what a stage presence even a fraction of that would give 21st century “superstars”.

However, it’s what God says about him that makes Him supremely unique Jesus Christ - Superstar? Absolutely! Listen to HIM.
