Roll on the good times – even if it means less drink for me!

After five long months of nothing but long lies and late nights, I am back to the daily grind.

Tuesday’s 5.20am rise hit me like a tonne of bricks as my mum woke me from my slumber, declaring that it was time to leave for Glasgow.

Nine o’clock starts throughout the whole of Trimester A aren’t going to be a fun experience, especially when it’s easier to go to an early morning gym session with mum in Glasgow to save on travel costs rather than gain an extra hour of sleep.

Nevertheless, I’m glad to be back. Glasgow is my home from home and it just didn’t feel right being gone for so long.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – the uni lifestyle just suits me to a T.

I enjoy studying; I enjoy going to lectures and learning about writing and theories and shorthand.

I enjoy being able to toddle off into the middle of Glasgow whenever I feel like it and I most definitely enjoy popping down to Malones for a tipple or two with my classmates.

However, I’ve made a pact with myself to not enjoy too many beverages this year.

Come the end of first year in April, I had a little shock at the amount of weight I had piled on. The only changes I’ll be making this year will be these – healthy foods and a few less trips to the pub.

One thing that I was shocked at myself for was last week passing up the opportunity to move in with my friend in Glasgow.

Cheap rent, a huge bedroom and a great location surely made for the dream situation for any student.

But, somehow, I decided that living at home would be the better option for me just now. I guess only time will tell if I’ve made the right choice.

Regardless, I am absolutely thrilled to be back. I am so excited to see what second year has in store for all us – roll on the good times!
