I’m delighted to welcome back our business awards

I am delighted that, as we announced last week, the Falkirk Herald Business Awards will be making a comeback this year.

It’s no secret that we’re still living in some difficult economic times but, during the years I have been invoved in the event, I’ve never ceased to be amazed by the remarkable successes still being achieved by many firms in the area, from the large corporations right through to the small, independent retailers.

And, at a time when so many people are having to adopt the ‘look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves mentality, it’s encouraging to see so many businesses prepared to put something back into the community.

This year we’re delighted to welcome Falkirk Council on board as our strategic partner. The local authority has backed these awards in various capacities in the past but will play a more prominent role this year and their is invaluable.

We’ve also introduced a number of new categories to open up the awards to as many businesses and organisations as possible so I’d encourage everyone to check out what’s on offer ... and get an entry in.

After all, as the saying goes, you’ve got to be in it to win it!
