One local BB company started the session with a bang. On October 3, the Anchor Boys of 3rd Falkirk (Peoples Church) visited Falkirk Fire Station, where boys were able to sit in the engine and operated a fire hose ... great fun!

On October 11, Junior and Company Section boys attended the Scotland v Georgia football international where Scotland co-operated by winning 1-0.

Despite challenging conditions boys, officers and fathers took on Ben Lomond for raise funds on October 5. Particular mention of Gregor and his dad, as first time ‘Munro Baggers’. Pictures can be seen on the company website.

Many companies marked the foundation of the BB on October 4, including a short service at St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh, following which flowers were laid in memory of Sir William Smith in the Chapel of Youth.

Our colleagues in the PTK are holding their National Camp in Finland from July, 22-27 2015. They invite Scottish companies to attend. Check out the website http://kipina.jiipeenetti.fi or contact Bill Stevenson at Carronvale for information.

Another foreign venture for 18-25 year olds is the European Fellowship Easter Camp in Malta from March 29 to April 5. This is a fun week’s camp, training and travel. Again check out www.europeanfellowship.org and speak to Bill Stevenson. Some funding may be available.

Did you see the Glasgow BB officers take on the BBC Eggheads on September 25? They didn’t quite ‘crack’ it but acquitted themselves well.

Wonder how well companies will perform on November 1, the first round of the National Masterteam Competition?

I’ll let you know later of those I’ll be quizzing at Dalgety Bay where 4th Dunfermline will be playing host.

The BBC is also looking to contact any companies raising funds for Children in Need ... again contact Bill Stevenson.
