At last, a final to look forward to

Plans first laid down two years ago are finally coming to fruition.

With Falkirk storming to a 3-0 lead against Hibs in the Scottish Cup semi-final of 2013 my mind was already turning to how the paper would mark their appearance in the showpiece final.

And I know sports editor David Oliver, who was covering the match from the Hampden press box, was equally excited, having narrowly missed the Bairns encounter with Rangers a few years previously.

In our minds we could already see a bumper souvenir supplement, a pre-match event, video interviews, the list went on and on ... and then was promptly forgotten about as Hibs came back to win 4-3 after extra-time.

Now, however, these plans have been dusted down after revenge was gained on Saturday with Craig Sibbald’s goal fulfilling every Bairns’ fans dream.

I came into the office on Monday morning eager to help fine tune what we would be doing - only to find David had obviously been burning the midnight oil and had beaten me to it.

It’s going to be a fun few weeks,
