It is clear from our front page story last week that action needs to be taken to address NHS Forth Valley’s record on waiting times.
And, from our subsequent Internet poll, it seems people aren’t particularly happy with the new hospital either.
I’ve had occasion to visit a few times and I must say I was impressed by the facilities and service, although, as I mentioned last week, parking is a bit of a nightmare.
And we could be a lot worse off.
As you read this, I’ll be in Spain visiting my father who had a stroke a couple of months ago.
Thankfully he is now on the mend but a few details about his hospital stay made me wish he was being treated back here.
Firstly, meals aren’t provided so family and friends are expected to taken in food.
There was also difficulty in pinpointing someone who was able to tellsus what was going on.
Then he was released after little over a week in hospital and his wife provided with a series of syringes to administer daily injections.
Finally, it was a whole 10 days later before his physiotherapy even started.
We’ve got a lot to be thankful for.
