There aren’t many workplaces now with football teams playing in the local leagues, but back in the ’70s there were quite a few.
Thomas Donnelly was part of the Thomson Caravan team in 1971 and used to take the field in the Stirlingshire Amateur League on a Saturday morning with his work colleagues.
Thomas, who lived in Westquarter at the time, said: “It was a big factory in Carronshore that made the caravans. The players were from all over the Falkirk area. I played centre midfield. We had a few decent players, but didn’t win any cups or anything.”
