In our October 31 edition we printed the above picture of the primary seven pupils of Comely Park School in 1957.

Ron Fraser from Essex e-mailed to say he is in the photograph sent in by fellow pupil Alan Brown.

Ron lived in Callendar View with his father and brother at the time after the family lost their mother the year before.

“I’m the rascal fifth from the left, back row. I joined the school during the 1955/56 year (P6), the family having moved from Camelon.

“Mrs Troup took P6 and then stayed with us into P7. My fond recollection of her was as an excellent teacher – strong, demanding, fair and with no favourites.

“She sat me beside Donald Wilson (sixth from the left, second row) when I arrived. I am sure that it was no coincidence that Donald had also lost his mum.”
