No let up in activity for the Battalion

Notwithstanding boys away at weekend activities, thirteen Junior Sections took part in their Battalion Sports at Grangemouth on April, 24. 1st Haggs (Haggs Church) won with a tie for second place between 2nd Larbert (Old Church) and 5th Larbert (Baptist Church). 1st Grangemouth (Abbotsgrange Church) were fourth.

The results allowed final calculations for the Junior Section Efficiency Trophy to be done. The result was that, like their Company Section ‘big brothers’, 1st Grangemouth were the winners, narrowly out-pointing 2nd Larbert and 1st Polmont (Brightons Church). Well done at the end of session-long consistent efforts.

With Parents’ Nights and Company Displays looming, as well as Camps, activity within the battalion continues unabated. The Battalion Council, for ALL Officers, will be held in the Falkirk Peoples Church on Thursday, May 14 at 7.30p.m.

The Constitution Group has been meeting with a view to presenting an updated version to the Battalion for the start of the new session.

Also, and very much to the honour of the Battalion, it is host to the Mid Scottish District Queensmen Parade and Presentation by the Lord Lieutenant at Larbert West Church on Sunday, May 31.

Because the National BB Headquarters and Training Centre are local at Carronvale House in Larbert, we may take them for granted, forgetting the upkeep of the house is an ever present need. The Battalion is a member of the ‘Friends of Carronvale House’ as are Officers, past and present. With an annual (minimum) membership of £15 it allows some offsetting of tightening budgets by providing additional ‘extras’. This year the aim is to provide additional benches for the front of the house. Further information can be obtained from the HQ (562008) or on-line at www.carronvalehouse.co.uk .
