Fifty fire fighters had to tackle a blaze into the early hours of this morning in the Braes.
The fire broke out at around 10.24 p.m. last night (Thursday) in the cottage on Blackfaulds Farm near Avonbridge.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said when appliances from Falkirk and Slamannan reached the scene the property was “engulfed” and fire fighters immediately asked for back-up.
Supporting appliances from the Bathgate, Linlithgow and Whitburn stations attended along with an aerial ladder platform from Falkirk and a water carrying vehicle from Larbert as historically there has been a problem with water supply in that area.
A service spokeswoman said: “There were five appliances in total as well as the height and water vehicles.
“On arrival fire fighters faced a fierce fire which had engulfed the property and they instantly asked extra resources.
“There were very difficult conditions until the fire was brought under control in the early hours of the morning. There was also difficulties with the water supplies.”
The spokeswoman added that crews are still in attendance and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The cottage was vacant and no injuries were reported.
