A teenage girl has been seriously injured after apparently being involved in ‘body surfing’ on a moving car.

The 17-year-old was sitting on the bonnet of a Vauxhall Corsa when she slipped off and was involved in a “serious collision” with the vehicle, according to police.

She was rushed to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries to her body and legs.

A police officer has now issued a warning that the stunt of body surfing is “incredibly dangerous”.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. yesterday at Bensfield Farm in Carron.

Police officers closed the road for around three hours while they carried out investigations.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision is asked to come forward.

Inspector David McKenzie said: “To stand or sit on the bonnet whilst it is moving is incredibly dangerous and, as this incident has shown, can lead to serious injury.

“Our enquiries into exactly what has happened are ongoing and we are keen to speak to other motorists or members of the public who were in the area and have information relevant to our ongoing investigation.

“I would urge that others do not attempt this stunt. If you witness anyone engaging in this or similar activities then please contact police immediately.”
