Falkirk Model Railway Club’s annual exhibition of small scale trains attracted large scale crowds to Forth Valley College last weekend.
Around 2000 people enjoyed the intricate layouts and landscapes over the two days, giving great feedback about the show to organisers.
The winner of the prestigious Kerr Trophy was Kirkintilloch Model Railway Club for their impressive layout ‘La Rochelle”, based on a typical 1950s-era steam shed in Toronto.
Closer to home, Craig Watson of Bonnybridge Model Railway Club picked up the President’s Award for his massive ‘North American G scale’ track, which once again took pride of place on the elevated stage of hall number one.
The organisers also enjoyed their share of success too with young member Lewis Dawson winning best N gauge layout with his ‘Hadden Cross’ creation, which he designed at the tender age of 16. Ron Young, exhibition organiser, said plans were underway for the 33rd exhibition next November, with four layouts already booked. Before that the club, which meets every Monday and Tuesday at Unit 5, Redding Industrial Estate, Falkirk, will be travelling to Glasgow SECC in February for the Model Rail Scotland Exhibition.
