Plans will let Grangemouth post office prosper

Grangemouth Post Office is being modernised

Fears over a local post office’s future have been eased thanks to its operator’s ambitious business plans.

Last week East Falkirk MP Michael Connarty stated the Government’s initiative to modernise post offices had the potential to lead to the closure of local offices, including Grangemouth’s York Lane outlet.

However, upon talking to Grangemouth post office operator Alan Brown, Mr Connarty now believes this local branch, which is being refurbished between February 1 and 11, has a bright future as the only office in the area that can issue replacement car-tax discs in addition to renewal of discs.

He said: “I have every confidence Alan’s approach will maintain a viable office at the present Grangemouth location and he will ensure its long-term sustainability.”
