The latest affordable housing development to be completed in Falkirk district has been praised by a Scottish Government minister.

Margaret Burgess MSP, minister for housing and welfare, visited tenants in Carrongrove, Denny, last week to view the latest homes built as part of the National Housing Trust (NHT) initiative.

The 27 NHT units range from two-bedroom flats to two-bedroom terraced houses and are available solely for mid-market rent - a form of affordable housing for households with a low or modest income.

This allows tenants to pay rent at levels lower than the typical market rate.

Ms Burgess said: “It is my belief that everyone should live in a comfortable home which doesn’t cost the earth to keep.

“The completion of this £3.2 million development will provide a further 27 much-needed homes for mid-market rent in Denny.

“It is a key priority for this government to continue to maximise investment in housing through new funding models such as the guarentee-based NHT.

The minister visited the home of new Carrongrove resident Laura Ross.

“We love our new house,” said Laura. “We’ve made some great new friends here, one of the things we love most is the great community feel that the development offers.”

The properties are being let by Link housing group and were built by Mactaggart and Mickel as part of a wider commercial housing development in Carrongrove.
