A man was the victim of serious assault in Dennyloanhead as he walked home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 28-year-old was attacked in Haypark Road, near Head of Muir Primary School, at around 2 a.m.

He was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital. His condition is not described as life threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

In particular, officers are keen to trace a group of males who were seen near the school at the time of the assault.

Detective Inspector Grant Sangster said: “As a result of this attack, the victim sustained a painful injury to his back.

“We do not have any description at this time in relation to those responsible for this attack and are therefore keen to hear from members of the public who remember seeing anything suspicious in or around Haypark Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation is also asked to contact police immediately.”
