A hay bale was deliberately set ablaze at a farm in Maddiston.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the bale of hay was torched at Parkhall Farm in the Braes village last Monday, May 19, at around 5.40 p.m.

Local firefighters had to extinguish the blaze before it spread in an outbuilding.

PC Karen Ross, based in Grangemouth, said: “If members of the public saw anyone acting suspicious near Parkhall Farm last Monday then it is imperative they come forward.

“Enquiries are ongoing to find out the full circumstances of the incident and to identify those responsible. Fire-raising is a dangerous and irresponsible crime and in this instance there was a high risk of the outbuilding also catching fire.”

Anyone with any information regarding the fire is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
