Furious customers took to the streets to protest as Royal Bank of Scotland announced it was to close its Bonnybridge branch in June.

Councillor Billy Buchanan was joined by Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson and members of the public outside the Main Street premises on Monday to get their anger across to the bank about the decision.

Councillor Buchanan said there had been a complete lack of consultation regarding the closure and that it would have devastating impact on Bonnybridge residents, including himself, who banked there.

Mr Matheson said: “I’m afraid RBS, through its own mismanagement, is looking for ways to save money without regard to the impact it will have on the local community.”
