A group of 30 pupils from Larbert High are stepping up their fundraising efforts as they prepare to become the latest from the school to travel to South Africa.

They’ll make a 12,000-mile round trip from Larbert to Cape Town later this year to assist in teaching programmes at Woodlands Primary School in the impoverished Heideveld district and at the GCU Soccer Academy – a youth football club which has a remarkable record of keeping local kids away from drugs and gang violence

The link forms Larbert High’s involvement in Global Citizenship, a worldwide project that aims to encourage young people to take an interest in global issues.

Tickets are still available for a Tina Turner tribute cabaret evening at The Three kings in Shieldhill on Friday, May 2.

On Friday, May 9 a bake sale takes place in Larbert High.

And on June 14 a curry evening, with belly dancing and disco, takes place at Falkirk Rugby Club. Students will be waiting on tables.
