Staff at a top hotel were left badly shaken after a robber threated them with a weapon.
The early morning incident at Airth Castle Hotel, near Falkirk, saw a four-figure sum of cash stolen.
Two members of staff were in the reception area of the amenities annexe around 3.50 a.m. today when a man dressed in black walked in and forced them to hand over the money.
Detective Inspector Douglas Anderson said: “The two members of staff were threatened with a weapon. They were not injured but were left badly shaken.”
Police are keen to trace the man described as around 5ft 9ins and of medium build. He left the hotel on foot but may have had a vehicle to leave the area.
DI Anderson added: “We are keen to hear from anybody who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to come forward. We are particularly keen to hear from anybody who may have seen a vehicle on the roads leading to the hotel between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.”
