A family of four have been killed after their car collided with a lorry on a busy road near Polmont this afternoon.
Police say an accident involving a car and a lorry on the A801 road between the Lathallan and Bowhouse roundabouts caused the deaths of a mother, father and two pre-school children travelling in a black Fiat car travelling north at around 2.20 p.m.
The family were from the West Lothian area. The driver of the tipper truck was unhurt but badly shaken.
The road, which runs from the Bowhouse roundabout at the Murco garage near Maddiston to the roundabout which accesses Polmont and junction 4 of the M9, was closed as emergency services dealt with the carnage. Diversions are in place.
Fire crews from Falkirk, Bo’ness and Larbert attended the scene.
