Falkirk's Helix project proposals change location of giant Kelpie heads

VISITORS will get a better chance to see the sculptures which form the focal point of The Helix project.

New proposals just unveiled show a change to the original location for the giant metal Kelpie heads which will be the world's largest equine statues when they are in place.

The developers also announced plans to link the Forth and Clyde Canal with the River Carron.

A culvert will be created to take the canal and towpath under the M9 and into a turning pool near Lock 2 where the Kelpies will be

positioned.

It will link directly into the existing Carron mooring basin and one of

the Kelpies will be automated to displace the water required to operate the canal lock.

The full story appears in this week's Falkirk Herald.
