Woman dies after car collision

An elderly woman has died after a road accident last night.

The 79-year-old was driving a blue Suzuki Ignis along Dunure Crescent, Bonnybridge around 9 p.m.

At the junction with Dunure Street her car hit a street lamp and wall.

She was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital where she later died.

The road was closed until 1.10 a.m. to allow police investigations to take place.

Anyone who witnessed the collision and not already spoken to police is asked to contact the Central Scotland road policing unit at Stirling on 01786 456000.

The woman’s name is not being released until her family has been informed.
