The Falkirk Herald is proud to announce it is searching for its first Face of Falkirk.

The new competition is inviting entries from local men and women over 16 years of age who think they have what it takes to win the title.

The contest is open to anyone who would love a chance to strut their stuff on the catwalk.

We are now looking for entries and, next month, we will be asking our readers to vote for our finalists.

They will then take part in a showcase fashion show at the Beancross Hotel in front of a live audience and our judging panel.

Daywear and evening wear will be the order of the day - look out for more details in the coming weeks.

After the show, our judges will select our winner who will waltz off with a host of fantastic prizes - including a professional photoshoot.

And we are planning to add to that list of prizes in the next few weeks.

Proceeds from the event will also be given to our chosen charity - Strathcarron Hospice.

The new competition comes after similar and successful events have been run by our sister paper The Fife Free Press as it searched for the Face of Fife.

Now, the Falkirk Herald has decided to look for our own ‘Face’ and the search is now officially on.

Entering The Face of Falkirk 2012 could not be easier.

All you have to do is submit a full-length picture of yourself together with the completed entry coupon from The Falkirk Herald.

The photograph doesn’t need to be a professional shot - simply one that captures the real you.

So, don’t wait and enter today.

The closing date for entries is August 16.
