Attacks on firefighters could have serious consequences

A group of youths confronted firefighters tackling a blaze in Dunipace.

One of youngsters is believed to have aimed an object in the direction of the crew as they attempted to put out a fire in a wheelie bin in Chestnut Crescent.

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service has warned that anyone obstructing Firefighters on duty could put lives at risk.

Group manager Marty Brandrick said: “Our firefighters were carrying out their job to put a fire out and make the area safe when they came across a group of youths.

“Fortunately in this case the fire was relatively small but this could potentially have had serious consequences if it had spread.

‘‘Anyone who hampers members of the fire service while carrying out their duty could potentially be putting lives at risk.”
