Vile attack on grandad in his own home
A brutal attack and robbery left an elderly grandfather fearing for his life.
The 77-year-old widower was watching TV when two attackers forced their way into his home.
Ransacking the carefully kept property, they eventually made off with all the money he had ... £100.
The terrifying ordeal took place in Balfour Crescent, Larbert around 9 p.m. last Thursday.
Police have launched a high-profile operation to catch those responsible and are appealing for help from the members of public.
This week, the old man’s daughter spoke of his traumatic experience.
Her father is too upset to speak publicly.
She said: “It’s just been awful for him. It’s been a living nightmare. You hear and read about such incidents but think they happen to other people.
“There should be respect for your elders, not treating them like this.”
The attackers are described as having local accents and wearing dark waterproof jackets.
Police are also keen to speak to two men seen parking a blue W-reg Peugeot car, possibly a 306 model, in nearby Muirhall Road, around the time of the incident.
The retired foundry worker has lived alone in the Larbert house for the last eight years since the death of his wife.
His daughter added: “Normally he would not answer the door at that time of night, but one of his neighbours has been ill and he thought she needed help.
“He looked through the peephole but didn’t see anything. When he opened the door, they barged past him. One held him while the other ransacked the house. He was in fear of his life.”
Detective Inspector Douglas Anderson, who is leading the hunt, said: “This was a particularly nasty incident and we are appealing for help to catch those responsible.”
