Thanks to you all!
Falkirk’s youngest residents have reached new heights after raising one of the largest amounts of money ever in The Falkirk Herald’s annual Kids 4 Kids challenge.
Primary pupils across the district collected a fantastic £1882.39 for this year’s appeal in aid of Kidney Kids Scotland.
The magnificent sum was raised after 15 schools signed up to take part.
This week, a spokeswoman for our chosen charity said she she couldn’t believe how well the children had done.
Alison Tomanek of Kidney Kids Scotland said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity shown by the people of Falkirk.
“We were delighted to be chosen as the charity for the Kids 4 Kids appeal and are absolutely thrilled that so much money has been raised.
“It is especially nice that the money has been raised by children for children suffering from kidney or urology problems.
“The money will go towards the purchase of a haemodiafiltration machine for the renal ward at Yorkhill Children’s Hospital in Glasgow.”
The Falkirk Herald and Kidney Kids Scotland would like to thank all our schools, especially the primary sevens, for taking time to raise the money during what we understand was a particularly busy term.
Our warmest thanks go to: Airth Primary (£106 from a fun afternoon), Avonbridge Primary (£50 after setting up an obstacle course), Bantaskin Primary (£30 from a guess the bear’s birthday competition, Bonnybridge Primary (£142.89 from a World War Two-themed tea dance), California Primary (£152.91 from a Fairtrade coffee morning), Carron Primary (£332.37), Carronshore Primary (£60 from various events), Comely Park Primary (£150 from DVD sales), Drumbowie Primary (£82 from a themed run), Ladeside Primary (£250), Sacred Heart Primary (£118.50 from a zumbathon), St Andrew’s Primary (£100), St Joseph’s Primary (£100 from a toy sale), Wallacestone Primary (£144.60 from a Wallacestone’s Got Talent event) and Whitecross Primary (£38.12) from a bring and buy sale.
Special thanks also to readers who sent in private donations.
