Tesco hopes to open Camelon store next year

SUPERMARKET chiefs hope to deliver a new store in Camelon next year.

Plans to transform the rundown site of the former Wrangler jeans factory were finally given approval last week – more than 10 years after Tesco first proposed the venture.

The eco-shop will bring over 200 jobs to the area and will be open round the clock. There will be 450 car parking spaces and a petrol station with car wash.

Despite the promise of jobs, Falkirk Council officials had recommended rejecting the plans, citing the concern that it could have a detrimental affect on the regeneration of Denny and Stenhousemuir.

However, councillors gave the go-ahead to the multi-million project by 16 votes to 12.
