Roadworks force bus diversions in Falkirk

A number of bus services in Falkirk town centre are facing diversions from Monday.

The £135,000 project to install new traffic lights and new pedestrian crossings on Kerse Lane (west), Garden Street and Bellvue Street means three weeks of diverted bus services for passengers and delays for motorists in the town centre area, especially at peak hours.

After the three week period, it is expected that the junction will be controlled by temporary traffic lights for a further three weeks.

Councillor Dr Craig R Martin, convener of environment and community safety, said: “Unfortunately the work is necessary to improve the junctions as the equipment is out dated and with the new installations, we can offer a better designed and safer area, especially for pedestrians.

“The work is expected to last for approximately six weeks and we are urging bus passengers and drivers to allow more time for their journeys through the town centre especially around these locations.

“No one likes disruptions such as these but we hope everyone appreciates the improvements once they are completed.”

The following services will depart from Falkirk Bus Station and will operate via Bellevue Street, Arnott Street and St. Crispin’s Place:

Service 1 (to Hallglen)

Service 17 (to Slamannan and Limerigg)
