Firefighters spent hours at the scene

A major fire at a commercial premises in Denny has led to a series of road closures.

The section of Broad Street between Denny Cross and Denny High School was shut all morning as a result of the incident.

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service was called out at 1.57 a.m. after a substantial warehouse near Winchester Avenue, named locally as the premises of Central Signs Limited, was reported to be well alight.

The fire was so serious that additional backup from Larbert had to be deployed.

The blaze was brought under control withing a few hours but it is understood that one of the building’s gable ends was believed to be in danger of collapsing.

The road was eventually opened at 12.25 p.m.
