Firefighters spent the night tackling a major woodyard fire in Bo’ness.

Although the blaze has now been extinguished, there will be traffic disruption throughout the day with a busy road closed while investigations continue.

Crews were called to the Alexander Anderson Woodyard on Haney’s Way around 10.40 p.m. on Wednesday.

They discovered a large quantity of compacted sawdust well alight.

At the height of the blaze, around 40 firefighters and six appliances were at the scene.

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service are expected to remain at the woodyard for some time.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Police have said the road at Grangepans will remain closed between its junctions with Cowdenhill Road and Philpingstone Road for most of today.

Local diversions are in place along Philpingstone Road.
