Police fear uncovered drains will be a safety hazard

Police fear uncovered drains will be a safety hazard

Sixty drain covers have been stolen from the area since the start of the month.

Now police have launched an appeal for information and warned that the thefts could lead to accidents.

The total value of the drain covers taken is believed to be five figures.

Forty-one were stolen from streets in Airth and Fallin on November 5 and November 6.

A further 13 were removed from the A91 between Greencornhill Roundabout and Corbiewood Stadium with a further eight taken from the Bannockburn Interchange area.

A Central Scotland Police spokeswoman said: “Public safety is an issue with so many drain covers missing and we are appealing to anyone who has information regarding these crimes to come forward and report anything suspicious.”

Anyone with information can contact police on (01786) 456000 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
